Oats Crackers | Oatmeal Savoury Crackers


 
 
 Make homemade crispy, tasty and super healthy oatmeal crackers and keep your family away with all that processed ingredients, additives and preservatives. These crackers are perfect to serve with a cup of tea/coffee in a beautiful evening. Especially when they are super healthy you don't feel guilty anymore to munch few more while relaxing your time. Try this recipe to make your own batch of Oatmeal Savoury Crackers.
 

Preparation & Cooking Time : 1 hour

Yield : 50 - 60 crackers (depends on the size)

Ingredients:

Oats - 1 cup
Wheat Flour - 1 cup
Salt as per taste
Sugar - 1 tbsp.
Kasuri Methi - 1 tbsp.
Mixed dried herbs - 1 tbsp.
Baking soda - 1 tsp
Olive oil - 1 tbsp.
 

Method:

  1. Grind the Oats in a mixer grinder into a powdered flour.
  2. In a large mixing bowl mix together oat flour and wheat flour.
  3. Add salt, sugar, kasuri methi and dried herbs along with cooking soda in flour.
  4. Add olive oil and mix together.
  5. Now slowly by adding little water at a time and knead into a smooth cookie dough. keep aside for 10 mins.
  6. Meanwhile prepare baking tray and line it with parchment paper.
  7. Preheat oven at 160C.
  8. Roll out dough in (50 cent dime thickness) a big disc and cut into desired shaped crackers.
  9. Arrange them in cooking tray and bake them for 10-12 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
  10. Cool it completely and store in a air tight container.
  11. Serve just like munchies along with a cuppa tea in evening or be creative to top with them with cheese, vegetables, fruits, dips or whatever you like. I used them as a base and to make sev puri and substitute for papdi's (flat puris).

Note:

  • To add more flavours add pepper powder OR knead dough with buttermilk instead water. 
  • If serving to kids top them with cream frosting or nutella and make sandwiched biscuit.
