Hara Bhara Kebab | Peas Potato And Spinach Cutlet

 Kebab made of mashed peas and potato with spinach.

A delicious kebab for vegetarian food lovers. This is made of  green peas and spinach combination thus gets its name as Hara Bhara Kebab. A perfect starter made of healthy stuff. Once we went to north Indian restaurant the very first time we ordered this starter and my hus liked it so much. He asked me to try at home. I google for the procedure and found interesting. This exotic combo of potato, peas and spinach is really sounds great. This goes perfect with green chutney. I tried some yogurt dip for this kebab as a side. Its so simple and delicious. Try and taste north Indian style starter at home....

PREPARATION TIME:30 MINUTES
COOKING TIME:20 MINUTES
YIELD:10-12 kebabs
RECIPE SOURCE:VAHREHVAH 

Ingredients:

Potato - 2 large
Ginger- 1tbsp minced/`aste
Green chilli-3 minced
Spinach Leaves-1 cup
Coriander Leaves-1/2 cup(optional)
Chat Masala-2tsp
Corn Flour-2 tbsp
Fresh Green peas-1 cup
Salt To Taste
Oil for shallow frying

Yogurt Dip:
Hung Curd -1/2cup
Green Chilli- 3no.(paste it)
Salt-1/4tsp

*Substitute corn flour with bread crumbs.



Method:

  1. Wash and boil green peas ,cool,drain and mash it. Follow the same procedure for potato. Boil,cool, peel the skin and grate it using grater.
  2. Now wash spinach and blanch it (bring water to boil and immerse spinach in it for few minutes). Drain the water and chop finely or blend coarsely. I did chop so it looks semi green color and if you blend into paste the kabab will turn into greenish.
  3. Now wash and chop coriander leaves.
  4. In a large mixing bowl combine potato, spinach, coriander leaves, ginger, green chilli, mashed peas, corn starch, chat masala and salt. Mix everything together to blend well.
  5. Now divide the dough into 10-12 equal size balls and flatten between palms to give good circular shape called tikki.
  6. Heat fry pan, add oil for shallow  frying  and fry the tikkis in batches until golden brown on slow mediun flame.
  7. Meanwhile prepare dip by mixing yogurt with green chilli and salt.
  8. Drain out fried kebabs in kitchen tissue to absorb excess oil .
  9. Serve hot Kebab with yogurt dip or chutney of your choice. 

Note:


  • Corn flour will help to bind the mix for shaping kebab.
  • You can even paste green peas and spinach to get good green kebab. 
  • If you wish deep fry the kebab and serve.
