Palak Paneer

Palak Paneer is a traditional North Indian delicacy and is an integral part of the Punjabi cuisine. This healthy and awesome dish combines fresh spinach and Cottage cheese/Paneer in a creamy curry. Serve this amazing paneer dish with the goodness of palak along with roti/paratha or naan.


Palak Paneer


 YIELD –2 persons

Ingredients:

Palak / Indian Spinach - 1 bunch
Paneer cubes - 1 cup
Onion - 1 big roughly chopped
Garlic - 3 pods
Ginger - 1" piece
Green chili - 1 big (select less spicy - add according to your taste)
Oil - 1 tbsp
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
salt as per taste
chili powder - 1/2 tsp
Lemon juice - 1 tbsp
cream to garnish - 1 tsp
Palak Paneer

Method:

  1. Wash the palak leaves properly and blanch them in boiling water for 3-5 minutes. Pour cold water over leaves to cool it down. Drain out excess water.
  2. Add onion, green chilli , chopped ginger, garlic and palak in a grinder and make a smooth paste. Add little water if required.
  3. Soak paneer cubes in a boiling water for 5-7 minutes to make it softer.
  4. Heat the oil a pan and add cumin seeds. Add above prepared palak paste. add salt and chili powder. Bring it to boil.
  5. Just before serving add lemon juice and paneer cubes in a hot boiling palak gravy.
  6. Garnish with fresh cream. Delicious Palak Paneer is ready to serve with your choice of Paratha/Naan.

Note:

If green chili is too spicy then avoid adding dry chili powder.
If you wish you can deep fry paneer cubes to make it more flavourful.
