Spinach Idli

Idlis are always a staple and ideal South Indian breakfast. The rice and lentil mixture provides good nutritional benefits. Added to this here i tried spinach idli and it is very simple too. Spinach is pasted with green chilli, ginger and mixed with batter to make green idli. Try this idea  to modify your regular Idli and send us feedback.


Spinach Idli


YIELD –8 Idli

Ingredients:

Idli Batter-1 cup
Spinach-1/2 bunch
Green chilli-1(optional)
Ginger-1/2"
Salt to Taste
Oil-1tsp

Method:

Spinach Idli

  1. Wash and chop spinach finely.
  2. Heat a fry pan, add oil, green chilli, ginger saute for a minute.
  3. Add spinach saute again for 2 minutes.
  4. Cool the spinach and make a smooth paste using mixer.
  5. Pour this spinach paste on to the batter and mix well.
  6. Pour a laddle of this batter in the Idli moulds and steam for 8-10 minutes.
  7. Serve hot spinach idli with Chutney.

NOTE:

My 3 years old daughter got a big aversion to this greens, but she loves other veggies. I tried this spinach idli with her and she got impressed with the color, thats it she finished herself breakfast.
