Prawns have lot of Omega-3 fatty acids and low in fat. Make this prawn briyani combined with pepper, ginger, garlic and dry chillies for a tempting taste and enjoy this one pot dish for lunch to have a treat.
Basmathi rice- 1 cup
Onion -1
Dry chilli - 5
Ginger - 1/2 inch piece
Garlic - 5 cloves
Pepper corn - 1 tsp.
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp.
Salt - as required
Oil + Ghee - 4 tsp.
Whole Garam Masala:
Cinnamon - 1" stick
Cardamom- 2
Cloves - 2
Fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp.
Star anise - 2 petals

YIELD –3 SERVINGS
Ingredients:
Prawn - 500 gramsBasmathi rice- 1 cup
Onion -1
Dry chilli - 5
Ginger - 1/2 inch piece
Garlic - 5 cloves
Pepper corn - 1 tsp.
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp.
Salt - as required
Oil + Ghee - 4 tsp.
Whole Garam Masala:
Cinnamon - 1" stick
Cardamom- 2
Cloves - 2
Fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp.
Star anise - 2 petals
Method:
- Soak basmathi rice for 1/2 an hour. Drain it and fry it in 1 tbsp. ghee.
- Devein prawns and clean it well (This will yield about 250 - 300 grams of prawn).
- Grind dry chilli, ginger, garlic, pepper corn to a fine paste with little water.
- In a cooker, Heat oil and ghee together.
- Add whole garam masala.
- Once it is fried well add onions and the ground paste and saute until onions turn translucent and the raw smell disappears.
- Add prawns, turmeric powder, salt needed for prawn and cook well.
- Add sufficient water for prawn (approximately 1/4 cup) and let it boil.
- Add 1 and a 1/2 cup of water, salt for rice and let it boil.
- Add the basmathi rice. Close cooker and cook by simmeringfor about 7 minutes after first whistle.
- Mouth watering prawn briyani is ready. Serve hot with Onion or cucumber raitha.
