Okra In Yogurt Sauce

Okra also famous as Ladies Fingers are rich in vitamins, iron and calcium, its superior fiber helps to lower serum cholesterol and reduces the risk of heart attack. Okra is tossed with yogurt sauce with spice mix that gives excellent touch of indian food. Its a Delightful vegetarian dish can be served with chappati/roti and with rice. Okra In Yogurt Sauce

YIELD –2 Servings

Ingredients:

Okra/Ladies Fingers-1 cup
Onion-1 Large roughly chopped
Curd/Yogurt-1/2 cup
Red Chilli Powder-1/2 tsp
Coriander Powder-1 tsp
Turmeric Powder-1/4 tsp
Garam Masala powder-1 tsp
Salt-1 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds-1 tsp
oil-1 tbsp

Method:

  1. Wash and cut lady's finger into 1/2 inch cubes.
  2. Heat a tbsp of oil in a wok, add cumin, onion and saute till onions are transparent.
  3. Add the lady's finger and saute for a minute.
  4. Add little salt to cook vegetable and cook covered for 5 minutes.
  5. In a bowl mix yogurt with all masala powder and salt to thick  paste.
  6. Pour the yogurt sauce to the vegetable and continue cooking till vegetable turns soft and tender (Add sufficient water to prepare curry).
  7. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice, Roti N Paratha. 

NOTE:

For variation try with other vegetables like potato, cauliflower.
