Ugadi Special Greeting

Ugadi Subhakanshalu...!!! to all ezcookbook viewers. Ugadi is the New year's day for the People of AndhraPradesh, Karnataka and also for the Telugu,Kannada people all over the world. Start your New Year with traditional Ugadi Pachadi. Ugadi pachadi is a combination of 6 tastes like sweet(thepu), salt(uppu), spice(karam), sour(puluppu), astrigent(tart food which makes the mouth plucker like lemon,raw mango...),bitter(chendu)Ugadi Pachadi has an important symbolic meaning that life brings different experiences ranging from sweet to bitter(6 tastes). Therefore each individual should learn to take the different experiences in one's stride and move ahead.

Ingredients:

Raw mango-1 tbsp chopped
Tamarind Paste- 1tsp
Fresh/Dry Neem flower- 1tsp(use only petals)
Jaggery-1 tbsp
Red Chili Powder/Green Chili-1/4 tsp
Salt-1/4 tsp
Roasted Gram Dhal-1tsp

Method:

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and add small amount of water.
  2. Mix up all the ingredients and serve one tbsp of ugadi pachadi to all your family members and celebrate ugadi with your friends and loved ones.

NOTE:

You can add nuts like cashew,almond, pista, raisins add flavor to Ugadi pachadi.
