Radish Phodi

Radish Phodi is one of the very famous dish in Konkani cuisine.Konkan being a coastal area in India has its own distinct way of cooking.The Konkani food compraises coconut as primary ingredient in various forms such as freshly grated,dry grated,coconut oil,coconut milk,paste. Radish is cut into thin disc,spiced up with masala and fried as fritters. Believe me people who says yuck to radish will love to taste Radish Phodi again once tried.
Radish Phodi


YIELD –8 Disc

Ingredients:

Radish (peeled and cut into 1/4inch discs)-8 slice
Red Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2tsp
Rice Flour/Rava - 3tbsp
Salt-1/2tsp
Coocnut Oil as needed

Method:

  1. Peel and cut radish into1/4 inch circular disc. 
  2. Wash and allow little moisture to be present on the radish as this will help to stick masala. 
  3. Apply red chilli powder,turmeric powder and salt evenly. 
  4. Heat a fry pan add oil and dredge the radish one by one in rice flour/rava. 
  5. Place the radish disc in the hot pan drizzle oil on the surface of the vegetable and flip them over, fry on both sides till light golden brown. 
  6. Serve this Radish Phodi with steamed rice,Briyanis N Pulaos as side dish.

Note:

Raw Banana Phodi
  • If you are health conscious, avoid oil and sprinkle handful of water and cook covered with lid and flip them both sides to well cook. 
  • Try this recipe with other vegetables like Raw Banana,Potato,Cauliflower,Capsicum etc....
